ARTIST STATEMENT
A rural area known as Lake Country near Milwaukee, Wisconsin is my home along with my husband, two cats, nine chickens and my horse, Justa Q.T. My profession as a Journeyman Carpenter for thirty five years has reinforced my love for architecture and attention to detail. My interest and experience in landscape design has been indispensable when planning compositions.
For me watercolor is the most exciting medium an artist can employ. Portraying the subject matter by building layers of color is my passion. Loyal and loving animal companions are important aspects of our lives and it is my calling to capture their true likeness and spirit. Our homes, past and present also evoke strong feelings and memories.
Following are some tips for the photographs you provide that will help me do justice to your project. Existing shadows are important as is a good light source. If the subject is an animal companion, my goal is to capture the spirit of the animal. Pose is everything! The photograph should be close up and very focused. If the subject is a home, your photographs should show the front and one side, including the landscape. This information enhances the composition of the painting and shows off more of your home and landscape.
You are welcome to view examples of my work on this website. If I can be of service to you please contact me!
